Do I need prior experience?

No, our basic courses and try-sailing require no prior sailing experience at all. Everyone is welcome – we start from scratch.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, we offer instalment payment via Klarna for most courses. This is free of charge with no hidden fees. Choose Klarna at checkout.

Is the wellness allowance (friskvårdsbidrag) accepted?

Yes, we accept the Swedish wellness allowance as payment for our sailing courses. Contact your employer to find out how to claim it.

What age limits apply?

Our courses are aimed at adults (18+). In some cases we accept younger participants with a guardian's consent. Contact us if you are unsure.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, all participants must be able to swim at least 200 metres. This is a safety requirement and applies to all our courses.

The courses

What is included in a basic course?

All basic courses include: online theory course at SvenskBåtskola.se, course book (The Fundamentals of Sailing), life jacket and safety equipment on board, and experienced instructors. Maximum 4 participants per day sailor, maximum 6 per large yacht.

What is the difference between the dinghy, day sailor and large yacht courses?

The dinghy course uses single- and two-person dinghies and gives you a very direct feel for the boat. The day sailor course uses our Aira 22 boats (22 ft) and is the most popular choice. The large yacht course is done aboard our Beneteau 50 with overnight stays on board.

What certificate do I get after the course?

After completing a basic course and the online theory at SvenskBåtskola.se, you receive Sailing Certificate 1 (Seglarintyg 1) certified by the NFB (National Sailing Federation). After progression courses you can earn SC 2 and SC 3.

Where do the courses take place?

All courses in Sweden take place at Viggbyholm, Täby (north of Stockholm). Greece courses take place in the Ionian Sea.
